Chinese antique famille rose vase, Late Qing, Tongzhi / Guangxu period #2207

A beautiful famille rose vase decorated with the five basic relationships (wulun 五倫). Tongzhi or Guangxu period. 

The five pairs of birds on this vase stand for the five basic relationships (wulun 五倫) in Confucianism i.e. between father and son, husband and wife, elder brother and younger brother, friend and friend, and between the Emperor and subjects. These values was fundamental in pre-modern Chinese society and have remained important even after the overthrow of the Qing dynasty. 

Condition: Checked with UV light. In very nice condition. General wear and manufacturing flaws (minor baking flaw on one of the lion handles, see picture, glaze loss).
